We recently held a seminar on the Lower Mainland Flood Management Strategy (LMFMS) by Steve Litke from the Fraser Basin Council at the Surrey Public Library. The event was well attended by group of engaged people with technical backgrounds and experience in water resources within the Lower Mainland region. Steve presented the results from Phase 1 of the LMFMS. Phase 1 included a review of flood scenarios that may threaten the Lower Mainland and a regional analysis of flood vulnerabilities. These findings will help develop an action agenda for flood management in the Lower Mainland going forward. The presentation was followed by a discussion on the future of flood management in the Lower Mainland, and effective strategies that can help engage the public in floods and climate change.

Special thanks for Steve Litke for presenting at the seminar, and Lotte Flint-Peterson for putting it together!
