CWRA SYP Vancouver Chapter is happy to share about the “Third Annual Shoreline Cleanup Event”. The event took place on July 12, 2017 at the beautiful English Bay. This time, the event was jointly organized by the CWRA SYP Vancouver Chapter and Connecting Environmental Professionals (CEP). Numerous young professionals and students in Vancouver came together and participated in this great cause! We were able to collect three recyclable and garbage bags full of trash including 530 cigarette butts and 92 pieces of glass! The trash statistics will be used by the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup to study the sources of shoreline litter and the impacts of litter on people and wildlife. The event was also full of networking, socializing, and discovering new places. Especial thanks to Kathryn de Rego for taking care of every detail of the event including carrying all those heavy bags full of equipment to collect the trash! Thanks John Bergese to bring the healthy snacks to the event. Also, thanks to Semyon Chaymann for connecting us to CEP group in Vancouver. Lastly, thanks to Navratna Sharma for helping us in post media release.
